Captains Crunch Waves for 7th Straight Win Ramsey Rolls On (Columbus, GA)—Lefthander Keith Ramsey became the second five-game winner for the Captains Tuesday evening, holding the South Georgia Waves to one run in seven innings in a 7-1 victory at Golden Park. The win extended the Captains’ winning streak to a season-high seven games. Lake County (27-12) has won 10 of its last 11 contests, and has been in sole possession of first place in the SAL North since April 11th. Ramsey (5-1) pushed his personal winning streak to five games. He worked seven innings for the second straight start and scattered six hits. Ramsey walked one batter, just his third walk this season in 50 innings, and struck out five. Nathan Panther swatted a one-out, solo homer in the first inning, his seventh of the year. Jason Cooper followed with a base hit to center and moved to third on a wild pitch. Cooper came home after Waves starter Leigh Neuage (1-3) issued back-to-back-to-back walks to force in a run and make it 2-0 The Captains scored two more in the second to extend the lead to 4-0. Cooper drove in Ricardo Rojas with a grounder that was misplayed by third baseman Brett Wayne, and David Wallace added a run-scoring double to drive home Panther. Matt Knox homered leading off the sixth, a line drive homer to left off Waves reliever Luis Gonzalez. It was Knox’s fourth homer of the season and his third in as many games. Ramsey gave way to Dan Eisentrager in the eighth, and Eisentrager retired six consecutive hitters over the final two innings to close the game. Captains Notes: The Captains will send RH Jake Dittler to the mound on Wednesday night at 7:05 in game three of the series. RH Zach Hammes will start for South Georgia.
